  • Warm-up & cool-down: Start each class with a purposeful warm-up routine designed to prepare your body for the physical demands of karate training. This includes stretches, cardio, and flexibility exercises. Wind down each session with a cool-down period and a moment for reflection.

  • We teach Shotokan Karate at our dojo. Shotokan (松濤館, Shōtōkan) is a style of karate, developed from various martial arts by Gichin Funakoshi and his son Gigo (Yoshitaka) Funakoshi.

  • NO! and we don’t even need to know your age for that answer! Our adult karate classes cater to individuals of varying ages, ensuring that training is tailored to accommodate different fitness levels and goals.

  • Basic equipment typically includes a karate uniform (gi) and a belt, both of which we sell at our dojo to our students. Alternatively, our Sensei can guide you on where to purchase these items. Once you progress, you would need additional gear such as punching gloves and shin guards and we offer those as well.

  • The main thing your want when training is to feel comfortable. Wearing an appropriate sport or gym top / t-shirt and either shorts, tracksuit bottoms, etc usually work best. We also suggest bringing along a drink bottle and sweat towel for when we take a short break about half way through the class.

  • We offer 3 classes for adults during the week. Most Karateka attend classes 2 times per week. We can guide you on the appropriate frequency based on your age and goals.

  • Only you can answer this question! The time it takes to achieve a black belt in karate can vary widely depending on several factors, including the individual's dedication, training frequency, etc. But did you know that a black belt is just the start of the journey?

  • Our adult classes are typically 90 minutes! However, if you are a beginner just starting out, you can participate in classes for 60 minutes until you are used to it and your body can handle longer training.

  • We encourage individuals with pre-existing conditions or injuries to consult with their healthcare provider before starting karate. Our instructors can then provide modifications based on medical recommendations.
